Maxx Crosby Laughs Off Trade Rumors, Declares His Commitment to Health and the Raiders!
In a surprising turn of events, Raiders' star pass rusher, Maxx Crosby, has publicly addressed the swirling trade rumors that have dominated headlines this week. While reports from Fox Sports and The Athletic suggested that Crosby might be looking for a new team, particularly expressing interest in playing for New England coach Mike Vrabel, Crosby himself is setting the record straight.
But here's where it gets interesting... Crosby revealed on "The Herd with Colin Cowherd" that he's intentionally kept quiet this offseason, having learned that he "can't control everything." This silence, it seems, has led to others speaking for him. "Now that I'm quiet, I've got random people making big statements for me," Crosby chuckled, clearly amused. "They're like, 'Maxx must've told them this.' For me, I just sit back and laugh because I know my truth and when I go to bed at night, I have a smile on my face because I don't have to explain nothing to nobody."
Instead of focusing on external speculation, Crosby's priority is his recovery. He's been diligently working at the team facility from early mornings to late afternoons. "I'm getting healthy. I'm in the building every single day. I'm in this building from 6 a.m. when it's dark out, and I'm here until almost 2," he stated. "That's all I care about, so all the noise, that's news to me sometimes."
And this is the part most people miss... The speculation about Crosby's future intensified late last season when the Raiders placed him on injured reserve with a knee injury, a decision he wasn't happy with. Now, with the Raiders heading into their third consecutive season with a new head coach – Klint Kubiak is expected to take the helm after the Super Bowl – and coming off a 3-14 record, the team is looking to rebuild. However, they are poised to have the first pick in the draft and over $91 million in salary cap space, offering a potential fresh start.
Crosby, a five-time Pro Bowler, has consistently delivered strong performances, with double-digit sacks in three of the last four years and a career-high 28 tackles for loss this season. His current focus is on his recovery from left knee surgery, which he underwent about a month ago. "I'm ahead of schedule, and it's business as usual," he confirmed. He acknowledged this is his eighth surgery in seven years, but with his characteristic resilience, he added, "It's all about perspective, about how you approach what you want to accomplish. I'm willing to run that marathon."
