NEIP Clarifies Adwumawura Program Scope, Reaffirms Youth Entrepreneurship Commitment
The National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) has addressed concerns regarding the Adwumawura Program, emphasizing that it is more than just funding. The initiative aims to empower youth-owned businesses nationwide through a comprehensive capacity-building approach.
In a recent update, NEIP CEO Eric Adjei highlighted the program's multi-faceted nature, designed to support at least 10,000 youth-led businesses annually. This includes intensive entrepreneurship training, mentorship, certification support, and access to funding.
Adjei revealed that beneficiaries have already completed five weeks of entrepreneurship training across the country. Training partners and innovation hubs are providing ongoing mentorship for six months, offering valuable guidance to participants.
The program also focuses on refining business plans, which will be assessed by NEIP. An independent Grant Management Committee will evaluate these plans and recommend grant funding. Additionally, NEIP has partnered with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture for the Nkokonketee Program, targeting agribusinesses.
Training partners are compiling a list of Adwumawura beneficiaries interested in poultry farming, enabling NEIP to provide essential support. The Authority is awaiting this list to ensure a comprehensive approach.
NEIP's commitment to youth entrepreneurship is evident in its plans to assist ideation-stage businesses with registration and regulatory certifications. This includes support from the Office of the Registrar of Companies and institutions like the Food and Drugs Authority, Ghana Standards Authority, and the Ghana Export Promotion Authority.
By addressing these bottlenecks, NEIP aims to foster the growth of youth-owned enterprises. Adjei assured beneficiaries of NEIP's dedication to their success, urging participants to submit business plans and prepare for pitching before the Grant Disbursement Committee.
The Adwumawura Program is a flagship initiative of NEIP, promoting entrepreneurship, job creation, and sustainable economic growth among Ghana's youth.
